Position Title: Field Officer
Location: Kwale Office
Duration: 24 months (renewable annually based on performance and funding)
Reports to: Project Coordinator
Organization: Youth and Women for Peace and Sustainable Development (YOWPSUD)
Start Date: June 1st 2025

1. Background
Youth and Women for Peace and Sustainable Development (YOWPSUD) is a Non-Governmental Organization registered in the year 2010. The organization envisions a prosperous society that is just, peaceful, and inclusive through implementing projects in the coast region that promote sustainable peace, economic empowerment, and social justice by enhancing meaningful participation of youth and women to realize their full potential.
2. Purpose of the Role
The Field Officer will support the planning, coordination, implementation, and monitoring of the project focused on advancing women’s leadership in P/CVE. This role involves working closely with local communities, government structures, civil society actors, and other stakeholders to ensure activities are effectively delivered and aligned with the project’s goals.
3. Key Responsibilities
Coordinate and oversee the daily implementation of project activities in line with the approved work plan.
Support the development of detailed activity schedules, budgets, and logistics.
Facilitate community outreach, engagement forums, capacity-building workshops, and trainings.
Maintain strong relationships with local stakeholders, including women leaders, youth groups, administrative units, and community-based organizations.
Collect data and success stories for reporting, monitoring, and learning purposes.
Ensure timely and accurate documentation of activities, meetings, and participant lists.
Contribute to communication and visibility efforts through storytelling, photography, and digital updates.
Identify risks and propose mitigation measures in collaboration with the project team.
Perform other tasks as assigned by the Project Manager to support successful implementation.
4. Qualifications and Experience
Diploma or degree in Community Development, Project Management, Peace and Conflict Studies, Social Sciences, or a related field.
At least two (2) years of relevant experience in project implementation, preferably in peacebuilding, community development, or women/youth-focused programs.
Proven experience working in diverse community settings, particularly in the coastal region.
Strong facilitation, coordination, and interpersonal communication skills.
Good understanding of P/CVE and gender dynamics in local contexts is an added advantage.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with digital data collection tools is desirable.
Fluency in English and Kiswahili; knowledge of local languages spoken in Kwale County is an asset.
5. Duration and Deliverables
The Field Officer will report directly to the Project Manager and collaborate closely with other project staff, including field officers, M&E personnel, and administrative teams. S/he will also maintain strong engagement with community-based partners to ensure local ownership and participation.
