Youth Role in creating the future we want.

It was such a great honor for Mary Mwachiti to participate in the 23rd TIMUN with the theme “ Youth Role in creating the future we want”.

This time not as a delegate but as the drafter of caucus 3 which is “Youth role in advocating against Gender based violence and for Sexual Reproductive Health Rights.”

“Gender Based Violence and Sexual Reproductive Health Rights is one of the most complex social problems globally. It maims, tortures and kills victims psychologically, physically, sexually and economically. Gender equality is not only a fundamental human right, but necessary foundation for a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable development communities. Although there has been a progress over the last decade, discriminatory laws and social norms remain pervasive, women continue to be under presented at all levels of political leadership and 1 in 5 women and girls between the age of 15 and 49 report experiencing physical or sexual violence by an intimate partner within a 12 month period. It is a common phenomenon and cuts across boundaries of culture, gender, class, education, income, ethnicity and age without exception”.

The four caucuses were :- 1)The involvement of youth in the circular economy paradigm 2)Youth role in peace building 3)Youth in advocating against gender based violence and for sexual reproductive health and rights. 4)Youth skills for different work and employment.
