This month, the Youth and Women for Peace and Sustainable Development (YOWPSUD) team successfully conducted a mentorship session in Kwale County under the Mwanamke Imara Project, bringing together women leaders and community champions committed to driving positive social change within their communities.
The session focused on outcome harvesting, a critical approach that enables participants to identify, document, and showcase the impact of their community-led initiatives. Through interactive discussions and practical learning sessions, participants were equipped with skills on how to track community transformation, measure progress, and effectively communicate the outcomes of their interventions both within the Mwanamke Imara Project and beyond.
Women participants learned how to identify visible and invisible changes happening within their communities as a result of their leadership and initiatives. The training emphasized the importance of evidence-based storytelling, proper documentation, and impact reporting as tools for sustainability, visibility, and access to future opportunities.
The mentorship session also explored how women-led grassroots initiatives can leverage documented impact to attract partnerships, funding opportunities, and institutional support. By strengthening their ability to demonstrate results, participants are now better positioned to advocate for their communities and expand the reach of their interventions.
Beyond technical learning, the session created a safe and empowering space for mentorship, peer exchange, and collective learning among women leaders from different backgrounds. Participants shared experiences, challenges, and success stories, reinforcing the importance of collaboration and locally led solutions in strengthening community resilience and peacebuilding efforts.
The activity aligns with the broader goal of the Mwanamke Imara Project to strengthen women’s leadership in community safety, resilience building, and social transformation. By investing in women’s capacity to document and amplify impact, the project continues to empower women as key drivers of sustainable development and positive change within their communities.
Through such mentorship engagements, YOWPSUD remains committed to supporting grassroots women leaders with the knowledge, networks, and practical skills necessary to create long-term impact and build stronger, more resilient communities across the coastal region of Kenya.
