
Conflict & Peace Building
YOWPSUD has built a strong track record in peace building and conflict transformation. We have expertise in building resilience of communities and young people to address violent extremism through use of multi-stakeholder approach in building the capacities of the County Engagement Forum's to facilitate coordination and implementation of the County Action Plans on towards preventing violent extremism at the local level. Our program have supported women and women led organizations to engage effectively in peace building and conflict management at community level.

Our approach to building trust and social cohesion among diverse ethnic and religious communities has been through religious and cultural dialogues and traditional story telling approaches. Thus addressing intergenerational and ethnic conflicts which are prevalent in Coast, Rift valley and Northeastern and other parts of the country.
To address conflict from a more strategic and regional perspective, our programs support efforts to advance the Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) agenda of the African Union (AU) and continental Framework on Youth Peace and Security(CFYPS) prioritizing the promotion of active and meaningful participation of youths at all levels of decision-making of peace and security, strengthening youth capacity on prevention through peace education and facilitation of effective coordination and communication between youth and relevant stakeholders on design and implementation of interventions to promote peace and security.

YOWPSUD through its conflict and peacebuilding programmes have partnered with both private and public stakeholders within the peace and security sector, Government agencies and officials , Regional bodies and mechanisms, Youth- led, youth-based organizations, Socially recognized groups (Religious leaders, CBOs, FBOs, Elders, Community media), in order to avoid conflicts, build community acceptance and ownership of the Youth, Peace and Security agenda.
