Health and GBV
YOWPSUD recognizes that Prevention and Response to GBV require holistic and systemic approaches with robust legal and policy frameworks, resource commitments, and interventions to support prevention along with care and support for survivors to seek justice, recover and rebuild their lives.
Our prevention efforts focusses on strengthening the agency of women and girls to become effective change agents in their communities through community dialogues, public information and advocacy campaigns, to promote gender-equitable norms, attitudes and behaviours and address the social and cultural norms that promote and normalize GBV. YOWPSUD collaborates with partners at national and county level to advocate for enhanced accountability and enforcement of legislation and policies and coordinated multi-sector GBV prevention and response efforts, as well as working towards improving access and quality of essential GBV services.

On mental health, YOWPSUD focusses on promoting mental health literacy materials as a means of dealing with stigma and discrimination. Central to this, our programmes work with the national and county governments to create awareness on National Mental Health Policy; increase mental health budget and financing to mental health programmes at the community level. YOWPSUD collaborates with the county health department towards enhancement of mental health systems and improved access to community based mental health services to respond to the needy and most vulnerable groups such as persons with disabilities, older persons, victims of sexual, gender-based violence, and other victims of crime.
